On this running tour guests will venture outside the city centre and we will experience the city part called Nørrebro. Nørrebro is multi ethnic, it is edgy, it is creative, it is hipster, it is up and coming and it is the place in Copenhagen where you can really get beneath the surface of our capital.
This Copenhagen Urban Tour will take you through the more unknown part of Copenhagen but also the most colourful, the most real and the city part with the most contrasts. Nørrebro has a lot of history and on this running you will hear about when this area what just the countryside up until today, when its a vibrant and hip neighbourhood. We will run through some of the hippest streets in Copenhagen, while enjoying the street art and the many bikes. Did you know that Nørrebro is the city part with the most bikes in Copenhagen ? If not, then you will at least be in no doubt after the tour.
A Copenhagen Urban Tour will of course also include a stop by the grave of Hans Christian Andersen at Assistens Kirkegården, where you will also experience how the cemetery is used as a regular park with sunbathing, kids’ birthday parties and just regular chilling out.
Nørrebro is also the home of some of what we in Danish know as the “most challenged neighbourhoods”, which in plain English means the ghetto. We will of course also run through here as well as we will see some of the latest and most innovative city development called “super kilen”. This is a super bike highway that is also transformed into a long activity area with the objective of having residents use the city space more and actually meet and talk to each other. This is indeed a very important part in terms of integration and sustainable neighbourhoods at Nørrebro and something we are super passionate about and we could talk on this topic forever. Unfortunately, the running tour is only 10 km, so we will have to reign in our passion on this topic 🙂
Last but not least Nørrebro is jam packed with restaurants and bars and come to the end of your running tour, you will have enough tips on where to eat and drink to last you a week.
This Urban running tour is a bit of a gem in terms of experiencing the real Copenhagen while running – it is unique, it is interesting, it is urban and it is FUN!
